REVIEW GUIDELINES

 

If you are a Premium Member, you can contribute reviews of books. Here is our vision for reviews, how to submit a review, what's desired, what's not allowed, and our disclaimers.

 


 

OUR VISION FOR REVIEWS

 

At the Treasury of Great Children's Books, we want to curate the best reviews of children's literature.

Most of our reviews are contributed by our Premium Members. They are welcome to contribute their own reviews of books they are familiar with.

If you are a Premium Member, we encourage you to share your opinions, both favorable and unfavorable.

We welcome your honest opinions about children's literature. Don't be afraid to say what you think about the book!

Your knowledge and passion will help other people to discover what a book is really about.

 

HOW TO SUBMIT A REVIEW

 

Premium Members can post their review in our Community Forum. Or they can send it to us using our Contact Us page.

By submitting your review, you understand and agree that your review might be posted on our website, and that you agree with our Review Guidelines.

 

DESIRED

 

Relevant. Write about the actual book. Don't meander off-topic.

Give details. Go beyond generalities. Focus on the specific aspects of the book that are important to you.

Include "why." Go beyond like or dislike, and share your rationale.

Length. Reviews that actually get read are usually 75 to 500 words long.

Focused. Review only one book per review.

Comparisons. Compare the book to other similar books.

Creativity. Children's literaure is creative. It is fine for your review to be creative too!

 

NOT ALLOWED

 

Objectionable material. That is, any material that we consider obscene, distasteful, discriminatory, profane, threatening, defamatory, attacking, misleading, spiteful, illegal or immoral.

Promotional material. That is, advertisements, for-hire posts, solicitations, political views, views by a stakeholder of a competing company

Fair use. That is, not quoting too much, not giving away too many details, not spoiling the plot (unless you offer a clear "spoiler alert").

Reviewing the author. Our reviews are for the book. Reviews that are predominantly about the author instead of the book may be deleted.

Attacks of other Members. They will be deleted.

Self-Promotion. They will be deleted.

Spam Reviews. They will be deleted.

Commercial Reviews. They will be deleted.

Feedback. If you wish to provide us with feedback about your customer experience, use our Contact Us page.

By submitting your review, you understand and agree that your review will be posted on our website, and that you agree with this review policy.

We reserve the right to amend or edit reviews.

Report any reviews you think don't follow these guidelines.

 

DISCLAIMERS

 

We reserve the right to remove content at any time for any reason. It is at our sole discretion to decide when content violates our guidelines.

The reviews posted here are individual and subjective opinions. The opinions expressed in reviews are those of Premium Members and not of the Treasury of Great Children's Books. We do not endorse any of the opinions expressed by reviewers.
