Mildred Plew Meigs

Born in Chicago, Mildred Plew Meigs was a poet who published widely in the 1920’ and 1930’s. Her most famous poem was Pirate Don Durk of Dowdee, who was wicked as wicked could be. She initially published under her first husband’s name of Merryman.
