William Hickling Prescott

Born in Salem and educated at Harvard, Willima Hickling Prescott became the premier historian of Spain and the Spanish conquest of the new world for English speaking readers. His Conquest of Mexico and Conquest of Peru have been reprinted many times and are still read.
