Mr. Midshipman Easy (1896)

This novel based on the author's service in the Royal Navy during the Napoleonic Wars and the War of 1812 combines naval adventure, satire and humor.  It is perhaps the best written of the author's works from a literary point of view, being compared by one critic to an updated version of Don Quixote.
