Florence Atwater

Florence Hasseltine Carroll Atwater earned a masters degree in French literature. She married Richard Tupper Atwater and had two children. After her husband was disabled by a stroke, she revised his children’s book, “Mr. Popper’s Penguins,” which went on to win both a Newbery Honor award and the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award.
