Val Schaffner

Val Schaffner was a writer and a columnist for The East Hampton Star. He married a woman from Seoul named Min-Myn. He is soft-spoken and thoughtful, articulate and unrushed. He wrote “Algonquin Cat,” a novella about a cat named Hamlet who hobnobs with literary and theatrical figures at the Algonquin Hotel in Manhattan.

Algonquin Cat (1980)

Hamlet the cat has taken up residence in the Algonquin Hotel. When not napping he keeps a careful on on what is going on and lends his assistance when needed.
